Your mouth keeps a diary of your nights. We read it at every checkup.

The short version

What we see chairside

Flattened or chipped tooth edges from nighttime grinding. A tongue with scalloped, wavy edges — pressed against the teeth as it crowds a narrow airway. A small or set-back lower jaw. A high, narrow palate. Redness in the throat, enlarged tonsils, chronic morning dry mouth from open-mouth breathing. None of these alone is a diagnosis — together, they form a pattern we can’t ignore.

Why the dentist is often first to know

Most people see a physician when something hurts. But you see us every six months, healthy or not — and the evidence of a struggling airway shows up in the mouth years before it shows up as heart disease or exhaustion at the doctor’s office. When we ask about your sleep, we’re doing exactly what modern dentistry should: looking past the teeth to the airway behind them.
